Find the Future!

It’s 3 A.M now at the NYPL’s First Five Hundred – Find the Future game.
Those participating are the first members of the general public ever allowed down into the stacks. We are the first allowed to spend the night in the library, other than the caretakers. We are the first to ever write a book in collective of five hundred people.
This night was a night of firsts, first friendships.
We have two more hours to complete the book. We are already ahead of schedule.
The library has sworn to protect the finish manuscript for as long as the city of New York stands. Which is pretty eat, even if that might only be for the rest of the day.
I’ve learned a lot, designed a constellation and redesigned the prison system. I’ve looked at the words of wisdom of a dozen famous authors and rewritten quotes with a bend to inspire.
This has been a wonderful night and one I won’t ever forget. The stacks…those beautiful depths I will dream about, were wondrous. They were not elaborate, but their archaic nature.
It was powerful.
In five hours I’ll be at the Mayor’s Chess Cup with student’s from work. In seventeen hours I’ll be in Irving Plaza fr an Apocalyptica concert. I’ve only recently been exposed to them – I love their music. Quutamo is perfect writing music.
I’ll post something a little bit more comprehensive and/or interesting than this when I’m awake. So – Monday or Tuesday.
Until then.
Well Wishes from inside the NYPL.
