So Maybe I’m Late

July 26, 2011 § Leave a Comment

Writing has been hard lately. Editing too, all sorts of things. Without the pressure of actively working on pounding the novel out, and with my time and energy drained with summer camp…I’ve been lax.

I think I’ve written about a story a week, but I just don’t feel like it. Since I tend to write only once or twice a week, pounding out some stuff and then stopping. I’d rather bea bit more focused.

Thus…even though it might be a bit late, I’m committing myself to Write 1 Sub 1 for the rest of the year.

I’m starting up with Week 30. I’ll be writing and submitting a story this week, and every other week, till the end of the year. And hopefully far past that.

A Favored Rejection

March 10, 2011 § 2 Comments

I recently submitted a piece of work to a certain publication that I was and am quite excited about. I was, as you can tell from the heading above, rejected. Now this normally wouldn’t be anything I’d mention here.

Except a certain friend of mine, said some interesting things that got me thinking. I won’t post every rejection, but the idea of public failure being important.  That’s something I can actually get behind, especially when it is something I am a) excited about the publication  b) impressed by it.

Yesterday I read my rejection and on top of the considerate words and feedback contained in the message itself, the editor provided a link to his publicly posted story notes on all entries.
