A Rant Regarding Time

So. Well. This is awkward. I will lie.

This was more about tenses, than time.  It’d be a short little rant.

Is. Was. Will be. Simple Present. Used to. Would Always. Would. Were Going to. Present Continuous. Simple Past. Past Continuous. Prsent Perfect. Past Perfect. Simple Future. Future Continuous. Future Perfect.

Learn them. Love them.

I may not be grammar’s biggest fan, as some close to may know. Or as anyone who bother’s to read my quicker posts. Or any of them. Grammar and I are old jousting buddies. The tenses though.

When misused, mismatched and generally muddled – they do grate on me. They shove an otherwise quite enjoyable piece of writing directly into the unreadable.

It’s dreadful.

Now fix it.

Train-ing up Ideas

So I ride the train for an hour and a half. Daily. As in twice daily. As in three hours of my life are spent  going to and from New York City every single day.

Do the math. That’s fifteen hours a week. Sixty hours a month. Seven hundred and twenty hours in a year. Do you know what that works out to?

Exactly 30 days a year. One month. I spend one MONTH of my life a year on a train with this commute.  « Read the rest of this entry »
